I am new to this format

I am looking for information on the possiblity of installing a closed pond loop geothermal system. Pros and cons

property has 5 1/2 acre pond, deep spots 12 to 16 ft deep,
currently 2 acres with deep stops of approx 8 ft. give or take. it been dry up here.
pond supplied by wetlands runoff 4,  5 months a year and a few springs.

Looking to heat and cool approx 3200 sf.  of living space.
Building approx 50 ft from pond

I live in Connecticut,

any input is welcome.

This appears to be an ideal setup for a pond loop.  You have plenty of water,  it is close to the house.

I can't think of any downsides to this, unless the pond drys up.

The upsides are you don't have to any drilling or excavating.

Sounds like the perfect setup to me.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Somebody here pointed me to to a product called "slim jim lake plate"  LINK.  You avoid having to sink several hundred feet to tubing  in your pond.  I was given a list price of a 4*8 for plate sufficient for 6 tons of $5,700.  I'm trying to get a closed loop pond but the lack of springs is forcing me into looking at other alternatives.
