Dewayne, I see you have a Web Energy Logger (WEL - http://welserver.com ) installed on a recently completed GSHP installation for a customer of yours in Mt View, WY ( http://welserver.com/WEL0131 ).

I'm impressed with what looks to be a sales strategy of showing the daily and monthly HVAC operational cost of your customers, and making it available on the Web for all of the public to easily see.  This of course, as you know, is easy to do with a WEL unit and a Continental Controls KWH monitor ( http://www.ccontrolsys.com ).

Earlier this year I saw you did this with your own residence ( http://welserver.com/WEL0114 ).  This was interesting to look at.  What I didn't think of, at the time, was how powerful this could be as a sales strategy.

Could I respectfully ask a few questions?  Are you using the Mt View, WY example as a tool to enable future sales?  Do you plan to do this for some/most/all of your future residental GSHP installs?  If so, what do you think your strategy will be on the cost side - absorb the WEL-WattNode cost / pass it on to the customer / offer it as a customer paid for option?

Many thanks.

Best regards,

Bill

Hi Bill, I am impressed that you noticed this the day after it went live :) I will have one coming on line in Casper Wyoming soon.

I am offering customers a WEL unit if they will split the cost.

My reasons are several:

1) I will use the info for feedback on how well my design matches reality. The run time of the unit and the EWT tell me if I have sized the HeatPump and loop correctly.

2) The homeowners can tell at a glance how efficient their new system is and feel good about the money they have spent.

3) The homeowners can show their friends, neighbors and relatives how well the system is performing and how much money they are saving.

4) I can show potential customers systems that I have installed, and how much money current customers are saving with the geo systems.

Finally I want to thank you, Bill, for posting info from your WEL on the forums. After seeing yours, I knew what a great tool the WEL unit is.
