As promised in my main thread, here's a design detail question.

The whole CFM and airflow balancing thing is still rather opaque black magic, so pardon my ignorance here.

One topic I had on the phone today was the most efficient way to design a split-zone system.  I didn't get all the details, but apparently Bryant has a smart air handler unit that solves balance and air flow issues when you are faced with a ductwork system that has essentially three CFM capacities (Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 1+2).

Given how frequently air flow and proper balancing comes up when talking to HVAC professionals, you'd think that a two-zone system would present a big problem (the three CFM ratings above).

Is this just not a big deal?

Is the new Bryant system not a big win over however-it's-done-traditionally?

It all starts with good ductwork designed for what you want to do
2 zone systems are a well traveled path by most hvac guys and there are a handful of ways to address the issue depending on disparities in loads or temps the options may be more limited . Bryant may have found another , or they may have found another way to market there ecm . dont know nor care because if the ductwork aint right you can put a super computer in the air handler and still have problems . and if the ductwork is right a relay and a PSC blower will run perfect .
