Anyone have experience with the ductless split systems.  I need just a touch of A/C for 2 months a year and am looking at this as an option to a full blown A/C system.  Seems to not require ducts and wall buildout which is important in that a SIP house has  vaulted ceilings.  I can match the size to the small need I have and they are rated at 15 SEER.  Pros and cons?

I have used a Mr Slim Mini split system, 17 SEER, for a year and I love it, very very very quiet, I built a steel SIP cottage with 14' vaulted ceiling, if I put the temperature below 80 it is to cooooooooold.  I highly recommend this system.  My HVAC Guy had only good things to say about this brand to.

With your steel SIP cottage, don't you need a HRV? Or do you just open the window? :)

My steel SIP cottage is only 400 sq ft, so my Cats and Dog going in and out their pet door, let in plenty of fresh air.
One thing I did notice after living in a SIP cottage over the winter I will need to run a dehumidifer when I use the heat pump, inside the cottage it get very wet.

Hello:

Can anyone explain to me, please, what is the difference in between Mini Duct Sysytem and Small Duct High Velocity Central Heating & Air Conditioning System, such as Unico System?

Thanks

We have installed several hundred mini-split systems. I'd suggest you consider utilizing an inverter system, which gives you true variable speed so that the mini-split matches its output to the room's actual heat/cool load at that moment in time - all while sipping just the energy required to meet demand.

There are models available with 21-SEER and 11-HSPF. Many models incorporate a dehumidification mode while maintaining desired room temperature.
