i am getting close to being able to roof my new house and i was considering renting a jlg type lift for roofing it.  i've heard of them being used but have never seen it done.  i've roofed several houses and out of those a few off of roof jacks.  but i am hoping using a lift would be quicker than working off of jacks.  my house is a 9/12 pitch and will take about 45 square of shingles.  thanks for any opinions

Jack the bottom and walk the rest, maybe jack every 6-8' if you're having problems. I think a lift only works if its over 12/12. I use foam pads to keep shingles and place and to make roofing more comfortable, it also keeps you from sliding.

Lifts of this type have a work platform that only really provides for reaching up. I would not suggest this type of lift for your roofing use, I think that you would end up trying to use it for carrying you and the shingles to the roof (they usually have only about a 500 pound limit) and then using the lift as a toe board (with you on the outside of the basket) Tie off and use roof jacks !

I have no idea. But i want to share something with you. When the roofs are old and start leaking then you think to change the roofs but i want to tell you that there are many products in the market that helps you to prevent the leaking of your roof. EPDM, liquid roof, liquid rubber, liquid roof coatings. I think you need to go for these products.
