We are considering ICF construction on lakefront.  Will a wall of windows (for view) negate the energy savings and wind resistance benefits of ICF construction?  Thanks for any input.

Thanks for considering my company. LOL.

But seriously, don't build any other way. To answer your question, short answer, yes to some extent.

It is all relative, how much of it is windows? How much ICF is in between them? How strong are the windows? Tempered? Energy efficiency of the windows? What is the climate? What direction would they face?

My experience has been that "lots of windows" are often asked for in the design process but shortly after the house is done the customer admits they have too many windows.

Put in enough windows to get your view when you want it. But enough wall to give yourself privacy, security and energy efficiency.

No.

Make sure you get the best windows possible though.

Here are links to some pics of a wall of commercial windows in an ICF house. 2 bays of windows 15'x8'. Windows face mostly south for good solar gain in the winter. 3400 sq ft home including walkout basement. 5.5" insulation in ICFs, 2" under slab, 7" foam in ceiling, geothermal heat pump. Highest winter energy bill, $105, highest summer bill, $157. Fabulous view!!!
