I am considering purchasing a new home in San Diego from a community called Del Sur.  They seem to offer the latest in green building technology.  They have tankless water heaters and solar powered energy systems as well as require at least 50% of the landscaping to be drought resistant.  I was wondering if anyone had more information on these features.  This seems like a great community to be a part of, if only everyone else could do the same.

I've heard about the Del Sur project, it sounds great! I've been considering purchasing a tankless water heater and have found alot of good info on the web. A helpful site for me is http://www.tanklesswaterheaterguide.com. Good luck!

Oh, welcome to a wonderful world. Enjoy what sounds like a great beginning. As you take pleasure in the technology and the attitude that it represents, you'll find satisifying ways to extend that view.

ps. In a private application you may be able to add a simiple solar pre-heater in the form of a (free from many retailers), old water heater. Strip it, check for leaks (and fix), paint flat black, and locate in a hot place (probably with glaze and appropriate insulation). This is the input to the on-demand heater. Some are specifically designed for this purpose.
