Storage Tanks as Drainback Tanks

What would the reasons be for NOT using a series of 120 gallon storage tanks as the drainback tanks in a large-ish solar heating system?  That is, can I avoid the use of a 20 gallon drainback tank in a 6 panel system by using the serialized storage tanks in the basement instead?

There must be some reason for not being able to do this, but I cannot for the life of me determine what that reason might be...

The drainback tank is set up to hold the volume of water in the collectors. More collectors more evening storage bigger tank. No need for a larger tank.
If your system is in a moderate climate the drainback will be fine. But if the systems for a pretty cold climate you should consider a glycol system.

I understand how drainback systems and glycol systems work.

My question might be better phrased like this: Can I use one or two or three 120 gallon storage tanks as my drainback tank rather than having a small, 20 gallon drainback tank with a heat exchange setup between the drainback tank and one, two, or three 120 gallon tanks?

Sure. The reason you would usually use the standard unit would be price.
