I am planning to add solar hot water over the next year and half by replacing my current water heater now and adding the collector next year.  I received some advice from a solar consultant about the tank.  He recommended the tank from Lowes (80 gal, ~$460, unknown insulation level) rather than a specific to solar tank such as the Lochinvar (65 gal, ~$750, R17 insulation).  This would be a drainback system that he would likely help with installation of.  Just looking for any opinions.  Thanks.

These heat banks are interesting. What do they cost? Any issues with leaks .... what do insurance companies have to say about that much water in one's basement. Eric
