Bovis Lend Lease, world wide developers have discoverd the benefits of steel SIPs being used for the perimeter curtain walls on this eight story building in Tampa. The project manager stated that the panels exceeded their expectations and saved several months constructiuon time over masonry construction

Nice! I assume the panels are facade cladding, not part of the building structure, correct? Are the windows also unitized or are they site assembled? Is the interior panel face finished, or is it then clad with drywall? I would like to see a panel section and a joint detail, if it is available. Bruce

Bruce Bruce; they are in-fill walls, held in place with 2- 2" x 2" 18 ga. steel angles fastened to masonry any type window would work the interior face is to be drywalled as is the rest of the interior Each panel is 45-1/2" wide the picture shows the friction fit T&G joint , no fasteners required!

large commercial CMU is on its way out as in this example even with icf's. anything above 4 stories the cmu just can not compete with speed and cost of sips or icf's. :) 2009 is looking real real real good for everyone in icf and sips. hey CM we did the tampa bay water works check it out if your over near there sometime. its a red iron infill building done with ICF's.

Finally someone that has caught on ... We manufacture Infill and Curtain walls for various commercial walls. We started doing this about three years ago when approached by a commercial builder in our down time over the winter. Now about 50% of our projects are commercial Infill or Curtain walls. The best thing about it is that we combine about 5 different construction steps by using our panels. The installed wall panels are ready to be finished on the outside and ready for drywall on the inside. As a bonus the walls are rated between R36 - R54 depending on thickness. We are not a SIP manufacturer, but I imagine there are similar advantages.
