LOL! We ended up hanging all our clothes to dry - saves a lot of energy that way but you end up with crunchy towels. :)

We have had 2 different condensing dryers.  The first was an obscure Austrian brand that we had in Moscow.  It heated up the room a lot and put a fair amount of humidity in the air (not a bad thing in Moscow winters). It never got the clothes really dry, so everthing still needed hanging.  My wife hated it.

We have a Whirlpool that is now 3 years old in Milan and it does a great job. It also has the highest capacity of any we found (most euro washers and dryers have the VERY low capacity, so it takes a lot more loads...and their cycle times are a lot longer). We hang dry a lot of things, but the ability to finish in a dryer eliminates the the stiff towels.   The only time the heat is a problem is in the summer.  Two thumbs up.

I think they are getting better and better.
