I don't know if you'd call it something for definition specific, sun room, solarium, green house porch, anyway, I have been trying desperately to figure out what the best configuration and design would be for the renovation I am doing without going over my budget.

I'm thinking that building on the solarium to the front of the house would probably run me quickly over budget, however, in the plans I currently have an open porch slated.

So what I'm thinking is, I could potentially build on that porch while keeping future design in mind, so that I could convert it to a solar room in the future. Or again, to just not build it on and wait to build it properly later. (although I'll likely build some sort of porch regardless).

The front of the house faces south, so that is the side it would be going on, being this is true, I would like it to blend well and look more like a porch than a solarium.

If i built the porch I have in mind, it's basically a country porch that goes across the whole front of the house with the door in the center. Were i to enclose this, I would not have a visible front door anymore though!

So I'm sort of in a conundrum at this point, not knowing how to design it to start with?
or where best to put it (other than the south obviously)?
should it be one story or both?
should I insulate under the porch slab?
how do you move the air?
what's the best way to "add one on"?

I've been trying to gather info on this for two days and keep finding all sorts of solar this that and the other thing, but not much on those questions I'm trying to figure out, which is the most critical thing holding up my design.
