Anybody getting a break on concrete prices given the slide in oil, fuel & ...... basically every commodity?
Today my supplier informed me price per yard is going up 12% in Dec to cover increased costs. I nearly fell out of my chair.
Price in NY is about $98/cuyd. What's it like by you?

GuyB,
I just poured up in a tiny town called Marble Colorlado, and they raped us today for 178/cuyd. When we pour up here around Aspen/Carbondale they hit us for about 150. Hell, they even tack on 15 bucks a yard for the hot water when it gets cold. I'll take all you can send if that $98 dollars a yard concrete!!!!!!!

I've been running $ 120.00 to $ 132.00 this year from the Oregon border down to just South of San Fran. not bad considering I was expecting worse. I'm told Northern Alberta is/was $ 250.00 a meter.

On 10/13/08 I paid $84/yd for 20 yds of 3500 psi concrete for my footings, plus $8/truck fuel surcharge. That is in central Arkansas and I only live ~10 miles from the batch plant. I checked on a pea gravel 3500 psi mix for my ICF walls and it was going to be ~$95/yd. It is going to be a while before I can pour the walls, so hopefully it will come done some. Fuel prices are now ~1/2 of what they were during mid year. |

Couple weeks ago, learned that our local APAC batch plant was planning roughly a 10%increase in Jan 09, but due to the economy might make it small in Jan and the balance of the increase in Apr or so. $86/yd for 3000 psi concrete with a fuel surcharge based on fluctuating fuel prices. Would hope the fuel surcharge could be eliminated for now. Sure hope our concrete doesn't go the way of Colorado or the west coast! Dave in Kansas |

We pumped about 500 yd in a Three story super eight motel in late summer at 62.00 for 4000 psi. Arkie why are you looking at pea gravel???????? We use 1/2" chip limestone pump mix with no problem. |

3/8" smooth aggregate 3500 psi mix is what the local engineering firm / ICF distributer recommended. I know I could probably get away with larger aggregate in my 6" ICF walls, but I know this works based on jobs I have seen. I live right on the banks of the Arkansas River, so pea gravel is readily available. Limestone aggregate is not available in my area. |
