I have just completed the code required termite proofing on an ICF house.  Not wanting to expose the concrete core to the elements (primarily a loss of R value issue) via the standard prescribed inspection/treatment strips, I used Polyguard 650 XTP which is a termite barrier approved waterproofing system.

The polyguard was difficult to install in a manner that I think would produce a 100% effective barrier against termites that have the next 150 years to find a gap.

So, I'll probably look at the inspection/treatment gap as an option next time.  Now with that context, on to the questions:

1.  How much of a thermal issue is created (e.g. how much overall R value is lost) by exposing the concrete core to the air via the 2" inspection strip and the 6" in the soil treatment gap?  One of the main purposes of the ICF is the thermal performance, and I am worried about degrading it through this technique.

2.  If slab on grade, the inspection gap doesn't make sense anyway since termites could come in on the inside of the form, yes?

Thanks for your thoughts on this.
