I'm going to be building a new home in spring 07 and plan to build with sips. I have heard about cement fiber board and wonder what the advantages are of it, vs osb. There is a manufacturer of the cfb about 25 minutes from my building site, which of course would cut down on delivery costs, but i'm just not quite sure if its the way to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you building? Storm area? Termites? Grizzly Bears?

25 miles is going to play a huge part in your decision unless there is an OSB plant within 20 miles. The biggest issues are what you plan to do with your finish and how much you are charged for the components and the engineering. Then add shipping and see which way you want to go. I have two SIP suppliers within 2-4 hours and they charge almost $1/ft difference in raw panel cost. Luckily for me the less expensive SIPs are closer.
