We actually got certified about 3 years ago to do Grailcoat systems over steel but, never made the transition because the cost was about the same as wire lath/cement.
They only could show me about 2 jobs that were done directly to the OSB. The flaw - as I see it is; if you have just one pin-hole ..... you're in trouble.
We had been using Stuc-O-Flex directly to steel sips and had a bad experience with blistering, in particular with their "whetstone" color on two separate jobs. You will never get an approved "written" installation from them over steel sips. It's all verbal and their warranty is to replace materials only.
It's either the panels were too hot, too cold, there must have been dew on them, yadda, yadda, yadda.
It couldn't be; they never tested in real field conditions to see if the stuff would stick?
They are currently being sued by a large steel SIPs modular company in Leesburg, FL. for the same problems on 110 portable class rooms.
