My family (three teenage boys and wife) and I are building a cabin (small house) in the fabulous Colorado Rockies located at 10,300 feet in the little 1880 mining town of Montezuma. Last summer we built the ICF foundation and main floor deck. The wall and floor SIPS (part of the cabin is over piers) are in the basement ready to install when the snow melts, and roof SIPS are in the ordering process. We are looking for an experienced carpenter with SIP knowledge to help us out for the entire summer (June-August), possibly longer if mutually agreeable. We are offering a wage of $35/hour and a $700/mo housing allowance for renting (or at least partially covering the rent of) a small unit in one of the local ski area towns nearby (Keystone, Frisco, Dillon or Breckenridge). Keystone is 10 minutes away. Downtown Denver is about 85 miles and minutes away.
Applicant must have own insurance and tools, and most importantly, think that working with a Dad and his three kids sounds like fun, as opposed to a chore. I will be able to provide any other tools necessary. You can see our progress and pictures of the area at http://www.flickr.com/photos/notlimah/collections/72157603102801615/ We will be living in a cabin next door to the building site.
This is your perfect chance to live and work in one of the most spectacular areas of the country during the cool, green summer months. If you are interested, please send me an email at sbhamilton@pobox.com. |

Your best bet for finding a quality, competent SIP installer/builder is to go to the web site for The SIP School. The URL is: www.sipschool.org At this web site you can search for a SIP School certified builder for you area. The database will give you the certified professionals contract information.
Good luck,

cabinboy -
You should be able to put up your SIPs in about 2 - 3 weeks. There is a big differnce in the electrical planning stage depending on whether you go with EPS or urethan panels. I would be more than happy to discuss it with you since I learned the hard way. |

Cabinboy,
I am interested in helping you with your SIP home. I'm a Certified Panel Installer (www.sipschol.org) and a licensed/insured builder in Alabama. My website is www.panelstar.com. If the cost of my traveling from Alabama is too great, I understand. please know that I agree with a previous poster where they mention SIPSchool graduates. A Certified Panel Installer is a dedicated experienced SIP professional that believes in doing it the "Right" way. Enough so to pay up nough to travel and attend a formal school dedicated to that SIP construction.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. My schedule is: Two houses currently under construction and three waiting. I should have two/three weeks available in mid July - Early August. Perhaps the timing is right?
Regards, John |

| Matt and John, thanks for the advice. I actually took the SIP school 3-day course last October, so I've asked Al and Annie to be on the lookout. John, I'll probably be wanting to install walls in early June, so the timing isn't quite right, but thanks for the offer. Olpjeb, you'll be hearing from me :-). |
