I am in the very early stages (two years out) of planning a SIPS home in Paonia CO. elevation 6000 ft.  I am thinking of doing a lot of the work myself and it seems like the PU SIPS are a little easier to handle and to erect considering the cam lock feature.  I also like the fact that the 4.5" thick PU panel provides more R-value than EPS.  I realize that they are more expensive but I am willing to accept that if they are easier to install.  Since this is my first SIPS house, I would appreciate any feedback on my thought process so far.

Hi Dave,

As a DIYSelfer, you could not have chosen a better product to work with than SIPs. I've literally framed miles and miles of stick frame before I got into SIPS in the early 90's. At first I thought SIPs came along for the Owner/Builder who didn't have the time to learn how stick frame.

Don't know much about the cam-lock system. I have heard about it. I believe you get those panels from a company back east ? No matter which manufacturer you go with, SIPs and all of their fastening systems in general are easy to use. That's the beauty of SIPs.................... they're easy.
