I'm working on a plan for a home that will be around 56'x40'.  I'm confused about the maximum span of a SIP roof.  I'm planning on using 10" roof panels with predominately cathedral ceilings (no trusses).  Based on some other threads here, I was under the impression that 10' was the maximum span.  Looking at some of the manufacturer's data, I'm seeing maximum roof spans of up to 22'.

I'm building in central Missouri, so we do occasionally have to deal with significant snow loads.  The roof pitch will be 12:4.

I realize I'll need to get some architectural help, but I'd like to have the design nailed down before I get the high-priced help involved ;).

Thanks!

HTW;

You will need to tell us what your loacal snow laod & total load requirements are and we can determine span capabilities.
the more imposed loads on any structural component .......the less span capabilities

The state code calls for 20psf of snow load, but some localities specify 25psf.  I have not decided on a roofing material.  Pitch is 12:4. It's a simple rectangular roof with no additional details.

Thanks!

HTW;

with 25 dead & 25 live = 50lb. total load;

Steel SIPs will span............

4" will span - 11.5 ft
6" will span - 18 ft.
8" will span - 20 ft.

OSB is less and depends on the mfg. engineering tables
