Are those roof panels being placed without a crane? What is the weight of the panel and how many men to place?

Vermaraj, If you look at my pic's you will see my 19 foot six inch steel sips roof panels being installed with three guys using two scissors lifts. We put the same size panels on a duplex and it took about 4-5 guys. 4 to lift the panel up off the stack of panels and then the panel is lifted to the wall and rests on the wall. then two can go inside and using ladders the outside two push and the inside guys guide to the ridge beam where it is rest and is taped into place and then spiked down. the 19 foot panel is a little over 300 pounds. This can be done with 4-6 guys and with out a crane on one, two story.

We are getting set up to do a 100 foot by 100 ft chapel that will use 53 foot long roof panels. Then we will need a crane but for most home applications you don't need a crane to install roof panels or wall panels. Cutting back on the heavy machinery cuts down on costs as well.

NO CRANE .......... panels are 2-1/2 lbs. per sq. ft.    those panels weighed about 180, it's nice to have 1 man on each corner, but I just helped last month when we were short handed just 2 of us carried 16ft. x 6" thick  (and I'm an out of shape old fart)

donaldsons link  is a great illistration of , balloon framing, setting roof first , then framing the second foor after the roof is on.

And I believe the finished photo is just a painted coating over the skin

In donaldson's link it looks like that corner is mitered. Is that typical? I thought the usual way was a butt joint with a break angle.

we did it that way in 2004 , now we do butt joints w/ break angle , testing showed the butt corner was much stronger.
