Posted By lisa6801 on 02/24/2009 6:02 PM What are some challenges that other subs may have if going with sips. I hear that electricians have a learning curve and what about others. If just the external (outside) walls and roof are done and then I take over as GC I have concerns that the walls could lose their integerity if my subs miss up. Bottomline- what should they know or be told by a sip rep during their time here?
I assume I can't put plumbing on an outside wall is that right?
If I need a hole for the "franklin stove" to the outside is that cut on the site or do they do that at the factory?
What should I also expect for the doors and windows. I have a source that will install but will it be framed by the sip crew or is that something i need to make sure my framers do afterwards? Any other advice pls add
THX Lisa Lisa;
Most plumbing can go on an interior wall or come up from under a cabinet, Studor vents are also advantageous and Island drains work well too(3" drain-no vent required) The hole for your stove would be in accordance with the mfgs. specs. for framing clearance. get all your RO dimensions from your door and window supplier and give to whomever is doing the cutting. All cuuting note should be provided by your supplier. If a sub is in doubt they need to check first
