On the drawings I have for my GeoComfort 4 ton units it shows that the load in should come from the bottom of the storage tank and load out should go to the top. My contractor has this condition reversed. Could there be a logical reason why? The storage tank is an AO Smith. Thanks in advance.

Are you refering to hot water generator piping that supplies the bottom of the tank and returns from the top?

This would be the piping for the 120 ish degree water that is circulated to my baseboards and fan coils. It is a completely hydronic system

Can't think of a good reason, nor can I envision a huge impact (depending on how the source of heat is piped in). Certainly supply from the top makes sense with a gas fired water heater, but many factors affect performance of indirect fired storage tank. How is the heat pump piped in? Did they cut the dip tube? Did you ask the contractor?
