Where can I find a chart to see how much I can cantilever a SIP? My interest is in a 8 inch roof Sip panel.

You can cantilever OSB sips. You will need to deal directly with the SIP company to get the right answer. It will depnd on the engineering and how the SIP is constructed. There is no one size fits all answer.

The first question I always ask is, "how much of an overhang would you like?" The max overhang will be determined by the answers to the following questions: 1.) Snow loads & Wind loads. 2.) Roof pitch. 3.) Roof framing and direction of the panels. 4.) Using 4' wide or 8' wide panels. 5.) Does the eve detail have a soffit? With these questions in mind give you SIP company a call. Do NOT guess! Most SIP manufactures have span tables that will give you this information based upon the roof load(s) (don't forget to calculate the wind load)! R-Control has an excellent span table and lots of designers use them. They will contain all the information you seek. If you have other ques tons feel free to contact me off line. Good Luck, Matt B.
