In an effort to advance the LEED Green Building Rating System and rollout of LEED V3, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has recruited 10 certification bodies. The organizations will help expand service, eliminate backlogs, and comply with ISO standards, according to the USGBC.
The organizations are:
LEED V3, or LEED 2009 will launch in January 2009 and includes a major upgrade to LEED Online, intended to improve the user experience and expand portfolio management capabilities. At that point, administration of LEED will move from the USGBC to the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), a non-profit organization established in 2007 with the support of USGBC.
"During the past year, the dramatic growth in the number of LEED project certifications challenged us to apply our mission of market transformation to ourselves," says USGBC president, CEO, and founding Chairman Rick Fedrizzi.
