The renovation is the world’s first remodeled home to achieve the prestigious U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Platinum Certification Award in the LEED for Homes™ program. According to Peter Lytle, Executive Director of Live Green, Live Smart, several industry experts said that it would not be possible to remodel a home and achieve any significant LEED certification; yet, the Live Green, Live Smart team renovated the 1948 rambler and surrounding landscape to achieve top standards. With a focus on energy efficiency, water conservation, habitat protection, resource efficiency and healthy occupancy, Live Green, Live Smart ultimately proved the sources wrong.

Contributing to the home’s overall energy efficiency, the shingle helped toward the LEED credits for the Live Green, Live Smart Sustainable House.
