Omak Home

Title: Omak Home
Submitted By: Jim Miller

Location: Omak, WA     Start Date: 4/ 2010 Building Type: Single-family Home     Project Type: New Home/Building

Green Products/Techniques Considering:
Insulating Concrete Forms, Structural Insulated Panels, Radiant Heating, Geothermal Heat Pumps, Solar Power, Doors/Windows, Energy Efficient Lighting/Appliances, Recycled Materials, Green Roofs

Details: Build a Passive Solar home using ICF for walls. I would like to span the roof with ICF lite-deck panels if possible. The home will have solar PV panels, solar hot water, radiant in slab heat or geo-thermal (undecided). Most of this project is in the feasibility stage, but the land has been purchased. 360 days per year of sun in a temperate climate from -10F to 100F temperature range. 3' of snow in the Winter is common.

Hi Jim: Because of the possibility of 3' of snow on the roof and big swings in temperature, you might want to consider my Dad's building systems in your research. It's Thermobuilt.com which offers an insulated Roof system of R-40 and snug walls of R-30. It will be hard to match his low prices and ease of assembly. Lucy (Reply)

Feasibility stage. Land just purchased. 2 acres with a shared well for potable water, gravity septic tank with nice grade on lot, open to sky and 360 degree mountain view. (Reply)
