I'm considering hydronic heat in a 1.5" gypcrete suspended slab over wood sub floor...(new construction)  the question I have relates to the hardness of the gypcrete floor... My wife struggles with back pain whenever she has to stand or walk on a concrete slab, so we're wondering how the thin slab compares to slab in hardness, how can get we get the advantages of the gypcrete thin slab without a lot of back aches... we're considering wood, bamboo, some tile, some carpet and some pergo, we were wondering about the suitability of these products over gypcrete from an application compatibility standpoint as well as well as comfort and thermal conductivity... where 's the balance??

You might want to look at a panel product such as Warmboard or RauPanel.  It would be much easier on your wife's back and provide faster response, more control and you can use any kind of flooring without sacrificing performance.
