does anyone know the BTU value of 1/2" kitec pex at 105*?
h/o has it imbedded in Al plates with foil top (Ibelieve underfloor). 1800 total feet.
Thanks,

it's no different than any other PEX product. do you know the on center or at least the amount of area that tubing footage is covering... and whether the plates are lightweight (floppy) or heavy gauge (rigid)?

well, if the tubing snapped into the plate after the plate was installed, it was probably heavy gauge. You could get about 15 BTUs/sq ft out of the floor assuming a wood floor over regular subfloor over well insulated joist bay (not just reflective foil) and a 70 degree room temp, 10 degree loop temperature drop (average temp 100).

If the plate and tubing went up together, it was probably light gauge. Same assumptions, more like 8 or 9 BTUs/sq ft.

plates
Rob, I know we have been through this.the BTUs/sq ft difference between heavy plates and the light weights. i have to concure that the addition of plates of any kind does help as i had several areas on the same floor with and without plates and the BTUs/sq ft heat output was very very noticable. i just can't seem to find data to tell me i need to replace my plates with the heavy ones. Rob, if you can sell me some and ship them to my home here in Canada i will run a trial to determine if what you claim is true! i would need about 200 feet worth. i think it would be a good trial. can you sell them to me?

Sure, though I am far from the only source of plates in the world. You'd probably be better served finding one in your area that doesn't have to cross the border.
