What would be the correct way to do a slab in northern WI?

 - sand/gravel
 - plumbing/electrical
 - more sand
 - min. 2" insulation
 - PEX tubing & wire mesh
 - poured concrete

Does anyone have a cross-section they could share?

Another question is when I add interior walls. How do I attach the 2X materials to the concrete. (assume treated) Can you just use adhesive to attach the 2X or do you have to use any fasteners?

Thanks,
HH

HH the slab sounds good.

Attach the 2x with construction adhesive and ramset nails.

Don't I run the risk of hitting the pex tubing if I nail into the concrete? How do I know the pex tubing won't be near the surface in some places?

Not sure where you are, were in Green Bay. Anyway I would just lay the 2 inch foam down and staple the pex to it. They make special staplers, very easy to use standing up. We got everything to do ours from Menards.

Hi Henry, Shortly we will be pouring a monolithic concrete pad for a new building that will have Radiant Floor Heat. In fact we will be starting to laying the pex tubing today. We will have 6 loops and and two zones. Having done the layout of the pex per room and the supply and return runs pass through the door ways there should not be any chance of nailing into the pex tubing. The pex tubing runs are keep back from partition walls 6 inches on each side. If you are just in the planing stages and haven't started work yet, I'd be happy to send you some pictures.
