Hey folk,

The parts I ordered for my boiler install included a caleffi discal air separator.  The screens in the discal appear to be plastic.  Should I worry?  Many of you mentioned that I should look for SS screens/scoops in my separator.  How critical?  Install is tomorrow, so I need to make a run to Grainger if I should be using a B&G  . . .

Charlie... many of the questions you have should be able to be answered by your suppliers.... I know you said hot air is the norm your way... you may need to hook up with an online company... most of my suppliers around me are online and have knowledgeable staff and we do lots of boilers this way.

Charlie,
Calffie makes fine products, I glanced at there air separator on line, it is running the same principal, attaching micro bubbles to burp out the top, same as B&G, I am sure you will be fine with it,

@ Dan: right on. Thanks.

@ jack: The fellow I'm working with on startup and troubleshooting issues is knowledgeable but busy, and I hate to bother him over a minor issue like this. The supplier, I think, is more used to putting together packages than really knowing how or why they work. That's why he's got a list of pros!

Getting it all put together today! Wish us luck!

absolutely! Got it half taken care of yesterday (late start).

Good to have a friend nearby as well. A buddy of mine is a Marine Engineer by trade, comfortable with boilers and such. Pointed out a drain line I'd not thought about and helped me save the cost of a Little Giant!
