Nice site. There seems to be a lot of knowledge exchanged. I have a quick question about slab on grade applications. I have a pole barn that is 44' x 30'. I am planning on pouring a section of the floor before the weather gets to cold. I know that if I don't install any pipe now I will kick myself later. I probably would not use the system for a few years. The first pour I am doing is 30' x 18'. My plan is to make that zone 1 . The remaining 26' x 30' will be zone 2. Would this be a major pain to do? I have not read about anyone trying this.  Any thoughts?         thanks jim

if these are two separate rooms, no big deal. If it's one room, you can install in two sections, but you would probably just use one thermostat for both later.

Good idea to get the pipe in the slab now before you pour,,,
You will need to remember insulation, 2 inch rigid is the first choice, 1 inch rigid would be my second choice.
As Rob says combining later is easy, or keep them isolated with 2 stats.
Might see forward as to where you can place the manifold so it will be close to the manifold of pour 2.

Thanks for the responses. Currently it is 1 large space. If I do ever divide the room it would be the 18' x 30' slab. I still need to figure out my pex size and layout of the piping. I was told to use 1/2" with 12" spacing. That info was basically a guesstimate  from a local installer. I am guessing I will need to exit the new slab. I could use conduit were the pex will exit and leave it about a foot long so I could tie it into the next pour. Does that make any sense? I also have to find out if I should put temp sensors in. I have tried a few programs for the zone layout but have not had much luck. I am off to find another program..........thanks
