Hello folks, I just passed my rough framing inspectionhttp://www.greenbuildingtalk.com/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/gbt/emoticons/w00t.gif and i'm ready to pour the 1.5 inchs of concrete for the radiant over my middle level floor. The floor is advantec on top of 14" webb trusses. I have 2x4s laid down below where the toe kick will be for the cabinets and to use as a screed. I have 600' of half inch pex in two loops and a double manifold. The sqft of concrete will be around 380sqft. The room is a 27' by 19' rectangal containing our kitchen 1/2 bath living area and stairs going up and down. The wall are 6 inch sips with lots of south facing windows. My plan is for 1.5 inchs of hi strength, sand agregat concrete mix with plastisizers and stuff to slow the cure. I plan to lay down some plastic on the advantec, then atch the tubing with plastic plumbing clips and then pour on top of this. We plan to leave part of the concrete exposed and ad marmoleum in the kitchen. I have not done a heat load clac add though i have tried many times online. Just cant figure it out. Any help would be greatly apreciated. Just alittle worried i will overheat the house and still have cold floors. The house has a 15seer heatpump as well. thanks michael

Every good radiant floor design starts with a radiant specific heat load analysis. A heat load dictates design water temperature, size of heat source and control strategy. Design by Web is not the best recipe. Naturally, the "type" of radiant panel effects output as well.

Send your plans, I can help.
