It does seem to vary by local market (and perhaps distance from the manufacturing plant.) Near me it's typically a 1.3-1.5x adder to the material cost to go with XPS vs. EPS. I've never seen EPS & XPS at parity cost though.

Seems to me, softer, harder to handle, can't shoot tube to with handy staple gun, more labor, less value.

Sorry, too much time in the interior and not enough in Van Couver - though I was just there last summer for Viessmann boiler school.

There are radiant panels and there are panel radiators - the latter are typically steel and sit under a window. Comfort second only to radiant floors and easily zoned to each room. I use them to supplement radiant floor designs and often for heating basements in retrofit situations.

Panel radiators can be sized to operate at very low design water temperatures making them suitable for solar, geo, condensing boilers and naturally any conventional boiler such as electric, wood and old-fashioned cast iron in gas or oil.
