We have a large shop going in soon. The decision was made some time ago to use radiant tubing at the bottom of the slab to at least assist in thermal control in the building. We planned to use a boiler system to heat the tubing fluids but wondering if we can supplement or even mostly run the system by just circulating fluids from the floor into a geo tubing system. Simple numbers indicate that the floor in our shop now in the midwest seems to go from about 88-90* in the summer, to 45*ish in the winter. Since the loop temps would cover closer to the 60* mark, just getting that shop floor to around that temp should largely improve comfort. Obviously the circulation costs is all you would have there.
I don't think this would be an issue of getting a perfect (aka, high) flow rate since we are only trying to level out the temperature from the geo loop to the shop floor. I have not run any numbers on this but thought I might check for experience with this first.
