Have you penciled in a tax credit.? 15% or 30% to go with one contractor deal for all things that just might as well be a loss in a diy mode? Could efforts be towards other things, and benefit by contracting all to a tax-credit type of an agreement for radiant and cooling and hot water system heating all in one?
A diy in WVA now wishes his duct work was in a complete heat pump contract.
MINIS work for if you save with LESS radiant tube installation for all of a space heating concern.

duct work does not count for tax credit. In fact duct work is specifically excluded from the tax credit.

"These components are not directly related to the efficiency of the covered geothermal heat pump property."
I think proper ductwork is directly related to the effciency of the heat pump.
For the tax credit the tax preparer just asked for a number to plug into the form. Added up receipts from HVAC contractor, excavator, loop installer.

it's important to the efficiency of the system, but not in any way that is specific to the heat pump itself.
Of course you can claim whatever you want. but if you get audited, you're going to get a bill unless the auditor has no idea what they are doing. it's right there in black and white.
