One word, Expensive. Concrete slab, above grade, 30 years old with no moisture problems...(I glued boards down using a all in one moisture barrier glue just in case) One small leak above... MDF loves water.. will suck it in.. absorb it all.. and bulge the wood floor on top, and causing odor issues. Plus, Direct over concrete slab(mines uninsulated) I find that a lot of the heat goes into the slab so you don't get fast reaction. If I were to do it again, I'd install the thermalboard over 1/2" or 3/4" rigid foam on top of concrete, and screw it down. I will never ever ever glue anything to concrete again. 2 people, 450sq foot, took 10 hours with a floor/tile remover, it worked but no where as easy as all the promotional video's. |
