I just removed an old boiler and installed an HTP Versa-Hydro Solar (130/80) and added a 30 tube evacuated panel. The house is 3800 Sq feet with 4 zones (2 up, 2 down). I'm in Utah so the strong sun in the winter causes significant solar temp increase in the southern half of the house. Currently I have four simple t-stats. Tekmar seems to be the way to go to control the swings but I'm not sure all of the parts required and which t-stats I'll need (or what features to use). The HTP has an outside reset so the boiler modulates fully on its own. On a side note, since we don't adjust the temp in the winter unless we go out of town, I'd really love to just set the house up with some temp sensors and have a centrally run PID control system that allowed me to monitor it from an ipad or phone. I know the Tekmars have this as an option, but it's a big $$ add on. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have put in the same setup on a few occasions. IIRC, there was supposed to be a solar control available with the HTP but in the end we went with a RESOL control and PAW pump station (my standard setup). I remember having to make my sensor well for the bottom of the tank as well. If you buy the stuff from China (I hate to say this) there will probably be no repair parts in a few years when needed. I am finding this a lot because I am called out weekly to fix orphaned systems and most manufacturers carry no warranty or have disappeared.

Thanks for the replies. Mine is a Resol (caleffi) as well. Looks solid.

Anyone used an Ecobee system with Radiant? Just read a little about them.

I haven't used the Ecobee t-stats with radiant probably because the houses i usually do (these days) are radiant throughout and therefore suitable for outdoor reset only based on supply/return water temp. Sometimes a high limit sensor is on the wall.

Totally different story when there are multi-zone systems. A fancoil would be on a different outdoor reset curve but and would have a t-stat, usually a standard Honeywell programmable.
