After 20 years in my home, we may be giving up the radiant heat from the 1950's. There has been a slow but progressive water leak in our kitchen floor which has stained the hardwood floor. I have been talking with a plumbing/heating contractor and he feels that baseboard would work for most areas on the ground floor, while the kitchen may be better suited to radiant panels. Can these two forms of heat be mixed successfully? What are the standard ways of retrofitting the kitchen area with heat? Also, are there any attractive type baseboard heaters that anyone would recommend? Thanks.
