We will soon be replacing carpeting with LVT and also need to replace our gas boiler for our hotwater/baseboard heat combo system. It seems like a perfect time to get off of gas by converting to a radiant electric flooring system, but I'm not finding good information on feasibility, products, costs, payback, and issues. Does anyone have experience or advice on having this type of conversion done?

Whether you should transition from gas to electric depends on the heat loss of your home and on your local cost for electric and gas. If when you say "radiant electric flooring", you mean placing electric heating elements in the floor (as opposed to using an electric boiler for hydronic radiant heating), it is commonly done for small areas such as a bathroom floor for short duration use only when desired. It is not typically done to heat an entire home because the cost would be prohibitive and the long term reliability and system life is relatively low.
