Great to see so much interactions on geothermal for homes!

While it is indeed heartening to see use of geothermal grow in individual homes and small locations, I'm wondering whether this alterrnative source will continue remaining a small niche market or whether it has potential to scale in future...

I do a good amount of work in researching production of oil & biodiesel from algae, and avenues such as these appear to have potential to scale massively, but I'm not sure whether geothermal can go beyond the backyards of homes

Any feedback will be appreciate

Hi Narsi...

The popularity of a product always depends on the avaibility to the mass. With companies like ARIT coming up
with a out of the box system at the fraction of the price it will help. Whern ICF was only available to certified builders
it didn't have the growth is has now.

When a product is accessible by "do it yourself'ers" it tends to get word to mouth and spread faster... Look at products
like NovaBrik, Hambro, Acid stain floors, concrete stamping, all products that are now popular.

People Still pay to get inground pools, but as soon as the word will spread that you can do it yourself with ICF's
They'll figure out that 25% of the price is wayyy better...

I wasn't sure about Geo myself, but after visiting Geo Install and doing the comparative to available Heat source
the choice is clear.... 20k with Some man hours is way better that thhe 72k Geo companies where asking me
around here....

Hey guys - geothermal is not a residential niche ; ) There are thousands of geothermal commercial jobs, some in excess fo 1500 tons.  Check out:

http://www.geoexchange.org/commercial/case.htm for commercial case studies

and

http://www.geoexchange.org/federal/case.htm for fedearl (military) case studies

and

http://www.geoexchange.org/schools/case.htm for school case studies.

Some states are mandating that all schools or govt. fascilities go geo, to help better predict their future budgets.
