I recently purchased a house that had the geothermal system in shambles... This is what I have today:
I have a 5 ton hydro-delta heat pump. 3 wells containing 1.25" pipe that are 250' deep (closed U loop). Living in colorado my water table seems to be 52* on the national map.
The loops come into a 2" header and then feed into the heat pump through 1" pipe. The system has not been filled nor purged.
I had a contractor tell me that the 1.25" pipe was unusual and that 3/4" was the standard.
I have been reading the internet like crazy to try to get to the bottom of this.
My findings seem to suggest that the system should be just fine but that I may want to consider adding an aditional loop into the system for a total of 4 at 250'.
Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me?
I need to make the decision to pull the propane furnace and turn this one on here pretty quick, but am worried that the system is sub par.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

1.25 is very common for verticle loops. 3/4 is not the standard. I have never seen a 3/4 verticle loop and I have seen thousands. 1" is also common. The three loops you have now might do the job. Four would certainly be more efficient. I don't have a lot of info to go on, but I would probably go with one more loop if you can get it done.
