It is feasible but not practical. The costs associated with a system to give the amount of heat needed are very high. We have had numerous inquiries about snow melt systems. We have not installed one system because of the cost. In one example geothermal for the house was $45,000, snow melt would have been $170,000.

Wow, I can only imagine the size of the driveway system for something that is really only used at the most 4 months of the year. Resistance heating would be far cheaper to install ($12 to $21 per Sq. Ft not including driveway removal and replacement), although operating it would be expensive, it doesn't snow everyday, the break even point for a geothermal system would be like 100 years.
