So a refrigerator basically works the same as a geothermal system. Were it extracts the cold from Feon and the feon disapates the heat in the coils on the back of the frig (at least the older models). So the question is, is it possible to reverse the process on a typlical refrig and make it a heat box instead of a Cooler. How exactly is the processed reversed when going from Heating to Cooling?

A heat pump has a reversing valve controlled by the thermostat that changes the direction of the flow of the refrigerant between the evaporator and condenser.

They make units that accentually use a refrigerator cabinet that heats in place of cooling and they use them in hospitals to supply warm blankets for patients. How do I know this? Well, I took my wife in for a medical procedure that I waited with her before hand. They asked her if she would like a warm blanket. When the nurse proceeded to what I thought was a refrigerator to get the blanket, I commented to her that my wife wanted a warm blanket, not a cold one! The nurse smiled and assured me it was warm. In fact it was quite warm. Of course being the geek my wife knows me to be, I had to go check out the unit. The question I have, is it still called a refrigerator?
