I have an 11 year old WaterFurnce Premier 2, 3.5 ton unit that has failed (water in the refridgerant cycle). I am looking at a replacement unit and trying to decide between the same Waterfurnce unit and a ClimateMaster Tranquility 27. Any reccomendatiions or experiences you could share?

You can't just repair it by replacing the failed component? Is it nessessary to replace the entire unit everytime a part fails? If they don't provide parts for there products, I'd look for another manufacturer all together. I was able to get a replacement blower for my 19 year old Florida Heat Pump system, surely a product only 11 years old has replacement parts available.

Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't ever consider replacing a unit that failed after only 11 years with the same unit. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

When water gets in the refrigerant circuit, it causes acid in the whole circuit. All the copper tubing, compressor, coil, heat exchanger, etc. must be removed and replaced. It'd be easier to just replace the heat pump. What caused the water to leak into the heat exchanger anyway?

I had a Hydroheat extended range 4 ton unit installed in 2001. I had numerous problems with it and eventually replaced it with the ClimateMaster Tranquility 27 last year. The new system is excellent, it is far more efficient than the Hydroheat unit and also about ten times quieter. So I would definitely recommend the ClimateMaster.
