I actually use controls that introduce second and third stage by tries per hour. I know it might sound archaic, but our temperatures here can swing dozens of degrees in short order and I prefer the lower stages to try first.

really appreciate the replay , kinda felt like I was talking to myself ha , kinda was. well I figured it out its really simple and cheap, had to embarrass myself by calling my buddy  the second stage wont even try to come on until the outdoor temp is below the balance point 23 F and all zones are calling at once , since the system can handle any 1 zone down to -10 and that is touched every 10 years or so . if the electric coil turns on 1 extra minuet then absolutely necessary its unacceptable ( of course Ill program the outdoor temp sensor to 25 ) thanks again
