Hi to the pros here in the board. I noticed upstair's doesn't stop from running. It normally runs like 5 min. then off. It seems like it's just the air handling unit is just blowing air. I checked the basement compressor then the red light on the lockout . What could be wrong?

Connie, I don't recall which system you have, but i would suggest you call installing contractor and ask if you should reset it (turn breaker off and back on). If it locks out again 9oh and your filter is clean), call for service.

Hi Joe! thanks for the reply. I called our contractor and sent the HVAC guy and he fixed it. Nothing wrong with the unit but just low on freon. It's up and running again. We have split system (GeoComfort brand single stage) with AHU at the attic. Thank.

P.S. I am changing our filter every 3 months as suggested by the contractor

I'll found out. It didn't sound like a leak but I'll double check.

Would be odd to not cyle on low pressure in January, but cut out in March if it were always low.
I'd think that something has changed such as the charge (leak), a dirty filter.....

make sure the leak is taken care of
I cant tell you how many jobs we have taken over where the installer simply added refrigerent untill the 1 year P/L warranntee was up
we show up and tell them we dont add refrigerent without fixing the leak ( for which I get yelled at ) because its 1) the law , and 2) the right thing to do.
Dont let this one go .. it could cost big bucks down the line

Geo, thanks for that suggestion. Our contractor is actually coming tomorrow to bring me some paperworks for the tax credit. I will also point out and make sure it's not a leak. I will keep the thread posted.

The contractor said that it is not a leak. It's the type of split system where the freon has to be fill in the refrigerant (if i remember the term right) and I believe they got short on it.

I would have them sign somthing that says allong the lines of

if the system has to be filled again and its outside the 1 year labor warranttee that the leak will be found and repaired at no charge .

The only way I buy there story is if you locked out when you tryed to switch to AC .
