We're new to the game up here in the NW (but no lack of knowledge :) and are wondering what other Geo contractors have found to be solid marketing outlets. We are considering a bunch of different advertising routes, and would like some feedback from experienced contractors. Where do you generate your leads?

So far for us, it's been a lot of boot strapping, event visiting, and word spreading. Very low cost! Now we need to spend some bucks...anything helps. Cheers!

I've had some success with internet pay per lead advertising. I have also dropped (with permission) geo literature in captive areas (the gym, waiting rooms). Utility companies offer referrals. More recently we've been cultivating arrangements with do it your self plumbing outlets to offer service from design to turnkey.
Never had great success with print or broadcast.
Most of my leads now come from referral or search engines.
Good Luck,
Joe

Since I'm easing into this biz by partnering with an area custom homebuilder, I suggest trying to arrange meetings with those in your area. Same applies to remodelers.

There is a mindset / demographic out there that seeks green bragging rights first over fast ROI. Perhaps having many green features assuages guilt they feel for building a MbMansion. They tend to be well-informed. Unfortunately since they tend to be at the top of their professional field (doctoring lawyering, indian-chiefing, whatever) they assume they know it all about geo AC.

That and they are as bad about changing airfilters as my mobile home tenants.

Our only advertising is word of mouth and our website.

The leading geothermal HVAC installer here in the Dallas area (Geothermal Distribution) is all word of mouth with no advertising or web site - does both commercial and residential (outsources drilling for all).

Best regards,

Bill
