I have not experienced any joy when it comes to finding a replacement air filter for my Geocomfort system, the people who originally installed it are no longer in business
and the new people are not showing an active interest in obtaining one, this really makes me wonder about repair services as well. I am wondering if others have had similar experiences with this and if they found any solution to the problem.
How can manufactures of Geothermal systems survive if repair and replacement parts are not available ?

It is up to distributors or dealers to carry parts (manufacturers' always have them available) but someone needs to pony up the dough to keep an inventory locally. Geo comfort isn't supported by a large distributor. In mid MI they just recentlty became represented by a company that was an installing contractor a year or so ago.
Your best bet is to go to an on-line filter source or contact the distributor in Whitmore Lake.
Good Luck,
Joe

Part of the "problem" is that heatpumps have a very low failure rate. I combination with emergency supplement heat and today's presence of overnight air shipment, it is not worth it to keep a large inventory of parts.

Not sure on the size filter you need, but some people have spoken highly of: http://www.filters-now.com/
We bought reusable electrostatic filters that we really like from: http://www.theairfilterstore.com/dust-fighter-95
If you go with the electrostatic, get 2 sets to buy yourself some cleaning time during cold weather.

You having problems obtaining replacement filters has nothing to do with GeoComfort and everything to do with your contractor. Have you tried contacting GeoComfort directly? Why not purchace an electrostatic permanent filter and stop using disposable filters?

I had contacted Enertech but they gave me a standard boiler plate reply to deal with my contractor, they fell short
on help because the contractor is no longer available and really made me wonder how successfull their product is
if people cant even get filters let alone repair work but perhaps i worry needlessly, a electrostatic filter sounds like the way to go, getting two of them so I can clean one while the other is in use, i will check the links given and see how they pan out, i really appreciate your comments and suggestions they all are very helpful.

We discussed your contractor before, and I am not suprised they are out of business.
This again is no reflection on the manufacturer.

I'm going to offer dissenting opion on the electrostatic filter. They are more restrictive than the others, and since your contractor shoe-horned a 5 ton into your 1500 SF home, I don't think we want to do any thing else to discourage air flow.
Good Luck,
Joe
