It wasn't easy - the potted thermostats aren't available in a wide range of switching points. It was only after a lengthy search I came up with a source of 113*F (45*C - hence the odd number) units, and they weren't supplied with potting or retaining clips, so they aren't ready for prime time. 100*F are being sent me by my favorite aftermarket DSH mfg pursuant to a manufacturing change. I'm concerned that value may be too low. These thermostatic switches typically have a deadband of 10*F, and once one is triggered by 100*F refrigerant within a DSH box in a hot Florida garage, it might not cut back out until about 3 AM, whether the compressor is running or not. I use interposing relays to combat that issue. It is well to understand the difference between thermostats and thermistors. Thermostats are merely temperature driven switches whereas thermistors transmit the temperature via changing resistance to a control board. |
