Waterfurnance is a piece of Junk...Manufacturer does not stand behind their product..In the 6 years we have owned a Waterfurnance it has been repaired over 40 time...YES 40 times. The Company knows it need to be replaced but they refuse. This hsa been going on since the day they installed it. We have had one ceiling collaspe for water leakage and it has leaked twice since. This is all within the last year. This week they replace the zone crd and guess what. now you cannot try and cool more than one room at a time. I am sitting in a house that is over 80 degrees at 8 pm. I am sick of this game they have played for so long and Monday morning I an contacting a Laeyer and see what our options are to get this mess corrected. The stress is becoming unbearable from all this trouble from Waterfurance. DO NOT BUY WATERFURNANCE . THEY DO NOT CARE. ONCE THEY SELL IT TO YOU YOU ARE LONG FORGOTTEN AND THEY TRY AND MAKE IT LOOK LIKE IT IS YOUR FAULT AND WHEN THE WARRENTY RUNS OUT YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH THOUSAND OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS.

Now that you have vented your spleen, what would you like to accomplish with this thread?

WF is like all other major players in the geo field - most projects go well; a few do not. Some failures stem from manufacturing problems, but most originate from poor installation.

If you want something other than to vent, start by answering the 10 or so questions listed in the "problems...start here" sticky thread.

1) Where you live
2) Heat loss/gain calculations for your home
3) Brand, size (model), age and type of heat pump
4) Type of loop field (open/closed/vertical/horizontal) size and design parameters
5) Average cost/Kwh of electricity and consumption
6) Entering and leaving air temperatures (EAT, LAT) measured immediately upstream and downstream of the heatpump
7) Entering and leaving water temperatures (EWT, LWT) measured at the geo system
8) Percent of load to be covered by geo and balance point
9) Installer's assessment of your systems operation.
10) Projected operating costs, actual operating cost and previous heating and cooling costs

Like the guys said, if your goal is to vent, you're all set.
Do not mis-understand, we are not unsympathetic and your frustration is warranted.
As Curt mentioned, poor installs and dealers are usually the culprit not poor manufacturing.
40 service calls sounds like your dealer is incompetant.
We have helped before, but you'll have to take a deep breath and start from the beginning.
Fixing this thing is likely less expensive than employing an attorney.

I'm on my 4th summer with a WF unit and totally happy. FWIW, I did not buy my system from WF, I bought it from a gold-certified WF installer. One small issue which the contractor resolved very quickly under warranty. Some people simply like to hear themselves scream?

BTW- if you happen to be in an area governed by the IRC section 1411 says......".....in addition to the requirements of Section 1411.3 a secondary drain pan shall be required for each cooling or evaporator coil where damage to any building components will occur as a result of overflow from equipment......".

If damage to your home was due to condensation, I'd take issue with the installer and building department, but certainly not the manufacturer.

Access-Energy; What a great list?
... is it not the installers duty to provide this information to the potential Customer, before finalizing the deal?

SEEKER; your frustration is fully understood?
... keep the correspondence with the manufacturer flowing, keep it public?

This is a great open Forum, to learn and improve our understanding of (GSHP's).

Thank you;

Hit and run complaint I guess. More anxious to trash a manufacturer than solve a problem

According to the forum search utility, SEEKER84 has been
sporadically ranting about the problems in his geo system
for at least three years (since Aug '09). He doesn't appear
to be looking for help -- just howling at the moon.

Why blame the moon for problems with a geo system...seems unjustified!

Another possibility is that this person does not even own a "Waterfurnance."  For instance, this could be someone who has lost bid(s) to a WF installer (or someone who prefers mini-splits.)    The OP answering direct questions is in order if his bashing is to be given any credibility.
Homeowner with WF Envision NDV038 (packaged) & NDZ026 (split), one 3000' 4 pipe closed horizontal ground loop, Prestige thermostats, desuperheaters, 85 gal. Marathon.
